Scottish Institute of Reflexology

Definition & Application

Reflexology deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all organs, systems and glands of the body, making the feet a "mirror image" of the body.

Reflexology is a methodical application of pressure, by the therapist, using fingers and thumbs only. This pressure is applied over all the areas of the client’s feet and ankles (or hands if appropriate).

It is suitable for health problems of all age groups and is compatible with all other forms of medicine. A course of treatment may consist of between 3 to 10 treatments. Acute conditions respond quickly, chronic conditions may take longer.
