Moving Forward in Scotland - Both Feet First
Established in 1987 the Scottish Institute of Reflexology (SIR), is the only professional organisation in Scotland and the North of England, dedicated solely to excellence in reflexology.
The SIR aim to promote, monitor and maintain the highest professional standards amongst its members and in training establishments offering reflexology as a professional qualification.
Together with the Reflexology Forum and the Foundation for Integrated Health, SIR is paving the way in Scotland for the regulation and successful integration of reflexology with orthodox medicine, providing the public with an enhanced approach to healthcare.
The SIR is a member of the Reflexology Forum - the leading body for reflexology, and the Reflexology in Europe Network, (RiEN.)
Members of the SIR are governed by a Constitution, Code of Practice and Ethics and may use the letters MSIR after their name. Membership is also available to The Association of Reflexologists (AOR) and to others by assessment. Student membership is available to those attending courses accredited by SIR.
All members have professional indemnity insurance and local co-ordinators run regular local meetings for members and students throughout Scotland and the North of England. Each year an extensive programme of Continued Professional Development courses and First Aid courses, are organised by the SIR for members. A quarterly journal 'Footnotes' is free to members and student members and to others by subscription. An annual list of members is published by the SIR.
The SIR are developing a research resource with members who are treating patients with Cancer and also Maternity patients who wish to have a naturally induced labour.
