How long does a yawn last?
A yawn lasts an average of 6 seconds.

When do we start to yawn?
Babies yawn in the womb just 11 weeks after conception.

At what age does yawning become contagious?
Between the ages of 1 and 2 yawning becomes contagious.

What makes us yawn?
Evidence shows yawning and breathing are controlled be different mechanisms.  It seems that yawning is in fact related to stretching.  A yawn is not satisfying unless the facial muscles get a good stretch.  Try clenching your jaw next time you yawn and see how it feels.

How much do we sleep?
If you add it all together you spend one-third of your life asleep.

Where does the word dream originate?
The word dream stems from the Middle English word, dreme which means "joy" and "music".

Dream fact
You cannot be dreaming if you are snoring.

Tips for a good nights sleep
Make sure you aren't going to bed hungry.
Avoid alcohol, a heavy meal, tea & coffee late at night.  Remember a high fat diet can make you feel sluggish.
Do have a room with minimal noise, a good mattress, fresh air and a comfortable room temperature.
