HELP FOR HORMONES
What are hormones? They are ‘chemical messengers’ i.e. substances secreted by glands, directly into the bloodstream where they are carried to their target area, usually a distant site. The body has many hormones and should an imbalance occur, its effects can be felt as in thyroid disease, diabetes etc.
Reflexology with its balancing action can help many of these hormonal/endocrine disorders and we should always remember to treat the individual reflexes and, of course, the pituitary reflex in the big toe - that so called “master gland” of the hormonal orchestra.
The following are some natural remedies for problems where extra help may be needed
Low Immune Response / Repeated Infections
Echinacea (the cone flower)
We have probably all heard of and maybe even tried this herbal remedy. It is available in liquid or tablet form. Liquid works faster - simply add the required amount of drops to a little cold water and drink. Did you know that Echinacea helps stimulate the activity of the Thymus gland? This is very important for T-cell activity and immune defence. It is also anti-microbial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and a lymphatic. It stimulates the body’s immune response, so try this for viral or repeated infections, sore throats, low immunity etc. Echinacea and garlic tablets are a good defence combination.
