ABOUT SUBFERTILITY
About Subfertility

Three case studies
One of the most challenging situations a reflexologist can come across is when a client asks if it is possible to overcome infertility problems using reflexology. Your clients have probably tried the traditional methods and the medication supplied by the conventional medicine for a long time. An infertility treatment can include all sorts of injections, hormones supplements and stressing routines for both partners: involving ovulation and examining sperm quality. When the month has passed, both partners cross fingers, maybe praying, being sure that this time is the time, and everything will be all right, hoping that the urine tests will bring good news. If menstruation happens, it will be a moment of deep frustration, starting again a long month of agony and expectations.
It has always been quite difficult in many circumstances to remain “cool” during these situations, but I was there to transmit optimism and faith. Accepting to treat a couple is a serious compromise.
To many couples, you can be the last chance.
I was invited to tell about my experience dealing with subfertility, sharing with you the stories of Ludmila, Tamar and Sigal, three women who wanted to be mothers. Here are some successful happy conclusions and new lives to live.
Ludmila, 29 years old, diabetic.
Sweetness is inside you
Ludmila is an engineer; she is the mother of a sweet eight-year-old girl. When her daughter was four, Ludmila was diagnosed with diabetes. She had to have insulin injections everyday, not on a fixed dose basis, but after testing her blood before breakfast and according to the level of sugar in her blood, which was about 130 – 180 mgs/lt. She also complained about fatigue and lower back pain. Since the moment her doctor recommended that she should not to get pregnant again, her mood changed dramatically, turning from a happy person into a melancholic, introverted one.
We started to work on her endocrine balance, combining sessions of reflexology and massage. The reflexology treatment included intensive work on her endocrine system to balance the hormones, putting the accent on the pancreas reflex, to enhance the secretion of insulin and the thyroid reflex to maintain a correct metabolism. The massage had the purpose of relieving stress along all her spine, working in the specific areas of her lower back.
At the beginning, the pancreas reflex was very tender when worked, but within time, it became relaxed and stronger. We tested her sugar levels before and after each treatment. Before her first treatment, her sugar level indicated 129 mg/lt, at the end, it reached the 110 mgs/lt. Two months after that, before starting a treatment, the sugar level in her blood was 80 mg/lt, she felt great and energetic, her mood improved, and she felt no back pain.
Her doctor didn’t know that she was having reflexology and massage treatments every week. Four months later, and according to “surprisingly” excellent blood and urine examinations, he gave her the green light to get pregnant again.
She fell pregnant at the first attempt, but aborted 9 weeks later because the fetus didn’t develop properly. She tried again some weeks later. Her new daughter is now school age.
Tamar, Engineer, 35 years old
An amazing pendulum story
Tamar and her husband had trouble conceiving their first child. three years earlier. After a laparoscopy was performed the couple was convinced by their doctor to take a break and, in fact, they did, and it worked.
However, one year after they started trying again, nothing happened. Tamar’s husband suffered a bad bowel infection, and received treatment of steroids and antibiotics. His condition was very poor and affected the quality of his sperm. When visiting an urologist, he was told he would probably not be a father again.
One year after this frustrating conclusion, the couple decided to start all over again. They visited the old doctor again seeking advice and checking this time the possibility of IVF treatment. He advised them not to proceed with IVF. Instead, he gave them prescriptions for Pergonal and Chorigon injections, as well as for Dikaclomin tablets. Tamar’s husband got angry and threw the prescriptions in the garbage.
They both started reflexology treatments. When I checked Tamar’s feet, uterus reflex was very stiff and swollen. I recommended she ask her family doctor to perform an ultrasound scanning.
